Spirit Unlocked by a Spell
The words “Aski Kataski” are part of a larger ancient Greek incantation: Aski-kataski-haix-tetrax-damnameneus-aision, thought to mean, “Darkness, Light, Sun and Truthâ€. It is believed that the shortened version evolved into a slang term for magic in the ancient world, much like hocus pocus. Today Aski Kataski is a label out of Japan designed by Katsuhiro Makino. As can be seen below, looks from the s/s 2006 collection demonstrate how this incredibly talented designer breaths life into various materials, notions and ordinary objects. The magic performed here is no illusion.

By using antique materials and antiquated sewing techniques for this “Drawer of Memories†collection, Aski Kataski weaves spells into the garments and charms the wearer.
