Spirit Unlocked by a Spell

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

The words “Aski Kataski” are part of a larger ancient Greek incantation: Aski-kataski-haix-tetrax-damnameneus-aision, thought to mean, “Darkness, Light, Sun and Truth”. It is believed that the shortened version evolved into a slang term for magic in the ancient world, much like hocus pocus. Today Aski Kataski is a label out of Japan designed by Katsuhiro Makino. As can be seen below, looks from the s/s 2006 collection demonstrate how this incredibly talented designer breaths life into various materials, notions and ordinary objects. The magic performed here is no illusion.
